Hi Everyone,
I’ve found some really lovely people here on my blog and the forums and just wanted to say how much the support and kind words are appreciated. I really appreciate hearing from others who are going through the IVF and ICSI treatments, its so nice to know that there’s others out there that are going through the same things as I am.
It definately makes you feel stronger!
All of you are so brave and strong and I hope that all of your dreams of a baby come true…
A little bit of an update for you, we are about 16days away from starting on the pill, followed by the dreaded injections.. I have to say though, I’m feeling a lot calmer about the injections after hearing from those of you that have been through it, it really does sound like its not as bad as I thoguht ![]()
Bring it on I say! I’m ready to get the ball rolling ![]()

Hi again,
Thanks for your lovely comments. Yep we are at fertility associates in Auckland. They have been wonderful so far and offer support.
One thing I really admire about you and your blog is how positive you are. I think that really helps! (I am in need of a mind set change!) we had some councelling which was very useful as I am very emotional about the whole thing and dh is far more practical. It was good to see two sides of the coin.
Thanks for info on blog, I will def join, I found it so hard to find a current one last year that I had given up. Sounds like they have been really helpful to you as well.
It’s exciting starting the pill, it really makes you feel like something is finally happening!! I am 2 days from finishing and 4 days from starting injections eek!
I was wondering if you are scared at all about the egg retrieval… That’s the one bit that I am finding it hard to get my head around. I kinda want to get put completley out so that if this first time doesn’t work, that it won’t put me off going through it all again?!
And lastly, thanks for letting me know that it’s not just me who sees pregnant girls EVERYWHERE. Last count I had 4 close pregnant friends and just yesterday found out about another… Was there nothing better to do in nov/dec but shag?? Ha ha (that’s my jealous side coming out!) anywho, it just makes me feel a little isolated, but I am determined not to be “that girl” so I will keep going to social events and show an interest in all things pregnancy related even if it hurts on the inside… Sorry for the rant!
Best of luck to you and hubby, I will be reading your blog to see how u r getting on.
Baby dust to you by the bucket load
xx

Hi Vicki!
I found Fertility Ass here in Wellington to be really lovely too, and thank you for your kind comments.
I know how you feel about being emotional, I think I balled my eyes out for 4 or 5 days when we found out we were going to have to go through this journey. I guess I had to look at it like this isn’t something “happening” to me, more like it’s something I’m doing to reach my dream of having a family.
It would be great to see you on the blog, I have found it soo helpful and reassuring. The ladies are so nice.
How are you feeling about the injections? I’m really looking forward to getting them underway (weird?), I guess it will give me a feeling like things are really getting underway, at the moment I’m feeling a little like we are in limbo..14 days to go though! woop woop!
About the egg collection, well, to be honest, when I saw the DVD from Fertility Associates (have you seen it yet?) when I saw the part about egg collection, I cried I was so scared! BUT, after asking the ladies on the forum about it, all of the ladies that have done it (some more than once) said it wasn’t that bad. It does sting when the needle goes through but the drugs they give you takes the edge off AND it usually only lasts around 10-15 mins, I’m sure we can be uncomfortable for a few mins if it means we get a beautiful little baby right??
I think that the woman who go through this journey are so strong and brave.
If you haven’t seen the DVD yet maybe ask your doctor for it, it’s called Journey to a baby for couples going through IVF, it goes through the whole procedure.
I know it stings when everyone around you are getting pregnant, my sisters due for her first tomorrow, I’m soo happy for her but it definitely does make me feel impatient. Be strong, smile, and remember, it will be your turn soon
Have you looked into acupuncture before your egg collection??
I hope you are feeling better. It’s so nice to hear from you and to know that there are others doing this journey.
As always, if you need to have a chat, rant, ask questions, say hi,anything! I’m a click away
xx
