Hello :)

Well I had a bit of a panic yesterday, I woke up in severe pain in my lower stomach and could bearly stand up, I was so scared I was going to have to pospone my treatment….turns out I have a kidney infection… Starting to feel a little better now so hopefully things can still run to plan.

According to my BBT chart I only have 5 more days to go before I can start the pill! God its been a long wait, was really feeling like I was in limbo, looking forward to getting things started..

Still no sign I my little nephew, he was due last Sunday but I hear that first babies are usually late..good things take time right? lol

Hope you are all well,

Have a great weekend..so beautiful and sunny today..

Hi again,

Well I’ve got 14 days to go before we can finally get the ball rolling!!!

After hearing that there were a few people looking for tips for before egg collection and after implantation, I decided to have a look around for you.

One tip I heard was that acupuncture can help with the folicules before egg collection. I currently go to Janine Nana at City Acupuncture here in Wellington. One thing I will say is, go to an acupuncturists rather than a pshsio, you want someone who specialises in acupuncture…

Acupuncture on the day of embryo transfer
These treatments are based on protocols used in clinical trials showing up to 65% increase in pregnancy rates.” “….found that acupuncture performed close to the time of embryo transfer improved chances of pregnancy.”

For those wanting tips about after implantation:

  • Pineapple is thought to help with implantation of the embryo. This is likely due to the bromelain (a digestive enzyme) that is inherent in pineapples.
  • Walnuts are also thought to help with implantion or an early pregnancy. This could be due to the Omega 3 content as well as it being a good source of B-vitamins.
  • Yams are believed to be high in progesterone. Since an increase is essential for a healthy pregnancy. Those women who may be deficient in progestorone production may find it helpful to eat yams (during the first trimester.)

Now these are just tips, they have not been confirmed or anything like that but hey, everything helps right??

Wishing you all the best!

Hugs,

Paula

Hi Everyone,

I’ve found some really lovely people here on my blog and the forums and just wanted to say how much the support and kind words are appreciated.  I really appreciate hearing from others who are going through the IVF and ICSI treatments, its so nice to know that there’s others out there that are going through the same things as I am.

It definately makes you feel stronger!

All of you are so brave and strong and I hope that all of your dreams of a baby come true…

A little bit of an update for you, we are about 16days away from starting on the pill, followed by the dreaded injections.. I have to say though, I’m feeling a lot calmer about the injections after hearing from those of you that have been through it, it really does sound like its not as bad as I thoguht :)

Bring it on I say! I’m ready to get the ball rolling :)

Hello :) Well today we had our appointment at Fertility Associates and got to meet our Doctor, Dr Andrew Murray. what a lovely guy! Looks like we are going to get things started in 3 weeks! the countdown is on! It looks like it will be around 8 weeks treatment..so its only going to be a few months and we might (fingers, toes, EVERYTHING crossed!!) have a little one on the way!

Bring on the injections, bad moods, all the bad stuff! Im ready to get things rolling….

I’ve found a few forums that I think I’m going to join too, will let you know how it all goes.

talk soon xxxx

Hi everyone,

Well it was my first day back to work after the holidays today..god I could have done with a few more weeks!

Good thing about it though,  it’s one day closer to our appointment at Fertility Associates! I had my acupuncture today too which was good, Janine ( City Acupunture) is so helpful and has made me feel a little better about things. Hopefully I can get some sleep tonight. :)

If you’r looking at trying for a baby acupunchure is fantastic! My cycle has been shortened ( it was too long), and it does wonders!

“Research and feedback from women undergoing fertility treatments shows that acupuncture can be beneficial to regulate hormones and the menstrual cycle, improve uterine wall thickening for improved implantation of the embryo, lower stress, improve sperm vitality and help to prevent recurrent miscarriage.”

Have a look at Janines website: www.cityacupuncture.co.nz

Talk again soon xx

IVF and ICSI Help groups?

Hi everyone,

Are there any support groups for people going through IVF and ICSI here in New Zealand??

Thanks for your help x

Hi everyone,

Well today I told my best friend Andrea about whats been going on, she was so supportive which was good. I’m still feeling really down about everything, I feel like I’m one big bundle of emotions. Sad, anxious, worried, excited…. Bring on the 20th!

Part of the reason for writing this blog was to add things that have halped me along the way, hopefully if you are going through something similar it can help you too?

Something I found REALLY useful was creating a BBT Chart. A BBT chart shows if and when you are ovulating, what you average cycle is, and it helps me with working out the exact date my period is due. What you do is take your temperature every morning before you get up (at the same time each day). After you ovulate your temperature rises quickly and shows a peak.

Have a look at this website for more info: http://www.baby2see.com/preconception/basal_body_temperature.html

Another REALLY useful site I’ve been using is called fertility friend, you can even put your temperature in and they will tell you when you are most likely to get pregnant. www.fertilityfriend.com

Hope it helps,

Talk to you again soon,

X

ICSI

Hi again,

Well we were able to briefly talk to the lady at Fertility Associates today about Liam’s results and she said that IVF and IUI wont work for us and that our only chance is ICSI. Devestating just doesnt even get close. Its going to cost us about $12K a try! We dont have that kind of money.

we spoke to my mum and Liam’s parents and they are going to help us which is goin to be a real help. I’m still feeling really down about the whole thing, im worried, what if it doesnt work???

Hi everyone! Welcome to our story..

Well where to start? An Intro? My names Paula and this is my road to my hopes of becoming a mother. Im an Administrator for a software company  based here in Wellington, 25 years old, and my husband, Liam, runs our IT company. We’re married and have been together coming up 7 years.  We’ve been trying for a baby for just over a year now and things seem to have not gone the way we had hoped…

Over the past couple of painful days after finding out we will not be able to have a child naturally, I decided to share my story to help, and hopefully make contact with other people going through a similar thing.

Look foward to talking with you soon x
